Land of my heart forever: Scotland the Brave

Can you guess by the title which item I checked off my list?

That's right, I ate haggis. Without "gravy" (aka, whiskey), because I had to be at work in an hour. And I sell toys. And whiskey and children just do not go together. And it wasn't half bad.

Specifics:

The Place:
Scottish games in Forest Park.

The Food:
Haggis and "chips".

The faces:

first bite!

weird texture

Actually, it's not so bad!

Going back for more (my brothers and I split it)

Best t-shirt ever:

"Mom, Dad, I'm Gaelic."

Baa ram ewe!

New goal!

I've wanted to rollerblade for a long time, but I could never find skates that fit. Today at Goodwill I found a pair for $8 in my size, so of course I snatched them...and then was so excited I tried them shortly after I got home. That was an experience.

I now need to conquer my rollerblades and skate like a pro. Or at least decently.

only the beginning....

I ran with my brother today. He has decided he is my personal trainer for marathon-training. It's totally helpful too, because if I wimp out on running, you can bet he will be thoroughly obnoxious about it until I change my mind. Plus, if I have 8 1/2 years to train for a marathon...I had better start now. We ran/power walked for about 25 minutes today and I was panting and bright red and...yeah, it wasn't pretty. I think I should have started training earlier.

To-Do lists

I have learned over my life that it is more motivating to begin a to-do list with items that you have already completed. Why? Because I'm a "check-off person" (hence this blog) and I like to check things off. Checking them off motivates me, because I look at my list and think "I've already completed some of this, what is going to stop me from finishing this list?"

Somehow when making this blog I forgot that little hint from my childhood, so now I am adding the obvious to my list (to help make up for the fact that I took off earning my Master's degree).

Earn my Bachelor's of Science in Nursing.

I can officially check this off my list in NINETY-TWO DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pictures will be posted, dancing will commence.

Oh, and I guess getting a job should be in there too, but that's kind of a given. Without a job, I can't do the rest of the things on my list. I need some kind of income to go exploring around Europe.

It's a sad day....

I have decided to take "earning my Master's" off my list. I have sought the wisdom of several nurses, who all told me that it would not be wise to go straight to grad school after graduation; that it will be easier several years down the road, when I have seen a great deal and am very comfortable with patient care, assessment, and medications. They all promised me that waiting to go back for my degree for 10-20 years will be the most beneficial not only in study time but also with getting a job after graduation; I will have more experience.

The only good thing about removing this from my current list of goals is that I now have a spot for another one! Anyone have any ideas?
